Would maybe be nice to get a brief mission statement from HP about how he sees this site being used - the old websters had a review section which included a place to submit reviews on games, films etc. Is the new (new) websters going to have something similar or are reviews going to be posted mainly by the admin team just as news items? If you do want user reviews, should we just post them in the forum for the time being?

My approach to developing a community based website like this is to secure everything first, which neccesarily means locking guests out of just about everything, and members out of most things as well, then turning features on bit by bit. One of the lessons learned building Thain up is that if some scoundrel can take advantage of your website for their own good to the detriment of all else around them, they will. Thankfully the Thain community wasn't hurt by such practices, but there were cracking attempts and hidden links placed on the Thain boards by people advertising pharmaceuticals and such. Enough ranting though. Yep, review submissions will be allowed to some people, and that will be implemented in the next week or so. Also screenie uploads and game specific areas will be created (say a page dedicated to a BF2 clan or a certian popular RPG). Also, the point of this site is eventually become commercially viable. Pages advertising more popular games will be added to the mix, and I would like to enable people to make clans and communities here surrounding multiple games. In short, I want to produce more Thain.orgs, on a larger scale .If you would like more information, just give a little time. s questions arise, A FAQ will be created, and websters will come into its own. Not only that but the administration area is more comprehensive and I'm still learning, so I have to figure out *how* to turn user submissions on. AHA! There it is! Users can now submit news and reviews for consideration! [ Edited Fri Feb 24 2006, 04:33 ]
